1 Year Pictures

Here is a generous sampling of Caden's One Year Pictures. We took them at a park in Tustin and just love the beautiful outdoor scenery. I think I've mentioned this before, but we are so blessed to have a family friend who does photography as a ministry, so we have never had to pay for any of these amazing photos he takes of our family. His generosity is such a blessing, and we again, are thrilled with how these turned out.

Caden's First Birthday Party

On Saturday, we had Caden's first birthday party! Jon's parents were so nice to let us use their home (since ours is the size of a bread box) and we hosted so many of our family and friends. We were blessed and overwhelmed at all the people who came to love on little Caden.
Caden had SO much fun and was seriously an angel the whole time. We were so relieved he was feeling better since he was sick the whole week before. He never got fussy, and just played played played with all his friends who were there. He tasted cake for the first time--both funfetti and chocolate, and was more intrigued by the texture on his hands then the taste. He barely tasted it and more played with it! It was pretty cute, and you could tell he was ready for the cake thing to be done so he could get down and keep playing!

It was SUCH a great day and while it was the biggest party I've ever thrown with lots of details and prep time, I am so glad we did it. It made some great memories and was so fun!

Here are some pics of the big day!

Happy Birthday to my Baby Boy

Exactly one year ago today, our son Caden Jacob Epperson was born. Today is his very first birthday, and as we celebrated today, I couldn't help but think back to one year ago and all the events that took place:
2:30am: Being awoken with stomach pains, thinking I was "sick" because I was so excited and nervous about being induced in a few hours.
4:30am: Finally waking Jon up because these "sickness pains" were strangely 3 minutes apart.

6:00am: Arriving at the hospital and trying to explain that although I was scheduled to be induced at 7am, I was here early because I was in labor.
8am: Being surprised by my sister, who flew in the night before so she could be there for Caden's brith. 2nd to my engagement, the BEST surprise of my LIFE! I don't think I could have done it without her!!! She is the best birthing coach EVER!
9:45: My new best friend the epidural came. Oh heaven.
4pm: Bethany coming to visit and "hang out" while I labored. (I will never forget how B was so amazed at the clear difference between natural laboring (no pain management) and an epidural labor. We got to chat it up! Quite the contrast to her experience, so she tells me.)
4:45pm: Clear the room---this baby is coming! Push!
5:27pm: Caden in born!

Jon and my lives changed at 5:27pm a year ago today. And what a year its been.
Full of so many amazing memories--some really hard times, but even more wonderful times.
Caden is the best thing that has ever happened to us, and we love him more than we could have imagined. How the year has flown by, and he seems to change more and more each day, transitioning from "baby Caden" into a little boy. We are so blessed that God has given us this gift and this responsibility to raise Caden. Its the hardest things I've ever done--letting part of your heart just crawl around and be seperate from you on a daily basis. Out of your control, out of your arms. But as many people told me before he was born, it is the BEST thing I will ever do. And I love it. I love being Caden's mama.
So Happy Birthday to my firstborn, my son, Caden Jacob.
You have made us feel more love then we thought possible, grow more than we thought we could as people and parents, and laugh and smile on a daily basis just looking at your face.
God has blessed us with you, and we can't wait to see what He will bring each day of this next year in your life. Mama and Dada love you!!
( I tried to post a pic here but my computer is being lame again! Oh well..picture a tiny baby Caden. :) Adorable.)

Finally, a Post!

Well I am back! Its been a month since I've posted anything because we were having issues with our internet being incredibly slow, so it wouldn't let us upload pics!! But that is all fixed now so now I am back! It is less than a week until my baby's first birthday and I can't believe it. I am so excited to celebrate our little man, and can't believe how this year has flown by! I had a sentimental day on February 24th since that was my due date, and was remembering how a year ago I was so anxious to meet our son. All the preparing, all the "nesting" and having that time off, not working. I remember thinking how this would be the last time I could do so many things and spend my days alone. And now a year later, I can barely remember what that was like! Anyways, I am excited to spend the day with Caden on his birthday (so glad it falls on one of my days off!) and am excited to celebrate it.

Caden is doing great--such a sweet, easy going baby. Everyone we meet seems to say "he is so handsome" or "what a good looking baby", which is fun to hear since we think he's adorable!! (Sorry for the mom bragging. :-) )
He is talking a bit (mama, dada, baba, ball, yeah!) and makes some animal noises (mooo, woof woof, and roooar). He is standing a lot, but almost seems content to just crawl rather than try to walk since its just faster. (Plus he's gotta support 24 pounds on those feet, so I guess its just too heavy! haha)
Here are some recent pictures of the almost one year old!

He LOVES giving kisses :)
